The Ugly Xmas Rashie, Australia’s newest Chrissy tradition.
Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, affecting two in three Australians before age 70. To make things worse, the Aussie sun is at its most deadly at our favourite time of year - the long summer Christmas break. Messages about sunscreen and ‘covering up’ had become white noise, so when Cancer Council Australia needed help in their fight against skin cancer, we knew we had to do something different.
An example of effectiveness via product innovation.
The Ugly Xmas Rashie is a lightweight Lycra swim shirt that reduces skin exposure to UV radiation when you’re enjoying the Aussie beach lifestyle. Its distinctive design made it the centrepiece of a powerful summer sun safety awareness campaign that took everyone by surprise.
We happily acknowledge that this project was created in collaboration with mates at other agencies, but our DNA is in every pixel.
